Answers to your questions

login wait what?

For heaven's sake read all of this before getting mad at me.

What am I looking at here?

I wanted somewhere that I could see what samples are coming due soonest without a lot of extra faff. So I built it.

Is this just to steal my LIMS password?

It is not, but good thought. I ask you to enter your LIMS password and the system then does a test login to make sure you have entered valid credentials, using your password encrypted using the same algorithm used by LabVantage. If the test login is successful, you are logged in and your password is removed from memory. It doesn’t need to be stored since the LIMS test login is the source of truth. To update tests in the app, you will need to re-enter your password since it is not stored in the database.

Is it safe to use this instead of LIMS?

This system is read only when it comes to LIMS. It contains no code to make changes in LIMS. Any modified due dates, shortcodes, etc are for internal use in this application only. Please be sure to make any required changes in LIMS itself. The only interaction that this application has with LIMS is to download the Outstanding Tests PDF, the source of truth for turnaround times and due dates.

If I change something does it change for everyone else?

Depends. Filtering a test, ignoring a submission or writing a private note is only for you. Changing due dates and rush status, test display names or short codes are for everyone. Don’t be a jackass and change other labs’ stuff, unless it’s a good joke. I rule over this domain, I can tell if someone is being a jackass, so don’t be a jackass. If you mess something up by accident is another story altogether, that’s fine.

Can you add *Feature X*?

Maybe. Find out who I am and get in touch and we’ll see what the energy-to-usefulness ratio looks like.
